Here we will discuss the steps for rolling back from windows 10 Mobile to Windows Phone 8.1 [Note:- This process will delete all data, apps from your phone, we recommend you to backup your data & apps.   1. Download the latest version of Windows Windows Device Recovery Tool in your PC & Install it. Click Here to Download the recovery tool.
  2. Open the recovery tool and connect your Phone using USB cable. If your phone is not detected, click “My phone was not detected” to force the recovery tool to rescan & detect your mobile.
  3. After this, you will see your phone, click your phone, wait a few seconds, and you’ll see your phone information and the software available for download to roll back to a previous operating system. To continue, click “Reinstall software”.  (screenshot is given below).

Now, the recovery tool will warn you to backup all your data first, as this process will delete all the previous data from your mobile phone. After this, Click Continue to proceed. The recovery tool will download Windows 8.1 from Microsoft’s servers and replace Windows 10 Mobile that is currently on your phone. The process will take some time depending on your internet connection.

After the recovery tool completes the process, it will display a message saying “Operation successfully completed“. At this point, the phone will reboot and you will have to go through the Out-of-Box-Experience. When you’ll sign-in with your Microsoft account, you can restore your mobile or can install fresh windows. After few minutes, you will be back to Windows Phone 8.1.
