We hope this tutorial has been very useful for you. We will keep writing to make blogging easy for you. So, this time we will learn to add an image in WordPress sidebar. Adding an image to WordPress sidebar had been a bit complicated for the beginners. In this tutorial, we will discuss this in very simple steps.
Add Image in WordPress Sidebar Widget
Simply, go to Appearance » Widgets, Here you will find an Image widget. Simply Drag & drop this image widget to your WordPress sidebar, where you want to display the image. Note:- In case, you don’t find the Image Widget in your widgets then, Install Image Widget plugin & refresh your page. A screenshot showing the process is given below.
After adding Image Widget to sidebars, you will see “Add Image” option in the Image widget as shown in the screenshot given above. Click on Add Image, it will open the Media Library, from there you can select the image that you want to display on your WordPress sidebar. OR you You can also choose a title, alt text, caption & custom link. After selection the image, the image widget will expand to show a preview of your image. Adding alt text, caption & custom link to Image
Click on the Edit Image link, it will open custom settings for alt text, caption & custom link. You can customise following things
- Alternative Text
- Link to (Custom link)
- Open link in New tab setting
- Image title Attribute
- Image CSS class & more according to your requirement.

After setting up the things, click update & now, you can see the image on your WordPress sidebar with custom alt text, caption & custom link. You can verify the things now. This is the very simple & standard way for adding an image on WordPress sidebar.
Alternate:– Another way to add an image to WordPress sidebar is by using Custom HTML widget. This widget is available in the WordPress widget lists, You can Drag & drop this widget to the sidebar where you want to display the image. You have to use HTML image tag with image URL to display the image.

After this, copy the image URL & paste it into the HTML tab shown above. After adding image URL to the Image tag, Copy the full image tag to Custom HTML widget & save.
