Contact Form 7 Settings – Adding a Contact form to WordPress Post/Pages

If you are running a website on WordPress, a contact form is one of the important parts of your work. To contact with your readers, instead of asking your readers to contact you via email, you can provide a contact form page & ask your readers to send feedback or ask queries via the contact form. Using a contact form is also a symbol of professionalism. And in other words, you can attract your readers/visitors/users by adding a contact form to your website.

You can easily add a very simple contact form to your website by using extremely popular WordPress plugin- Contact Form 7. This is a free plugin with very simple design & easy to use contact form plugin. Here, we will discuss – How to Add a Contact Form in WordPress using Contact Form 7 plugin.

Installing Contact Form 7

Here are few simple steps for adding Contact Form 7 to your WordPress Post / Pages.

  • login into your WordPress Dashboard.
  • Go to Plugins & click “Add New“.
  • Now, type “Contact Form 7” in the search bar given.
  • Contact Form 7 plugin is now showing in the search results, click “Install Now” & Activate the plugin.

These simple steps are shown in the screenshot given below. Another step is to create a contact form using the installed plugin, more steps are given below.

Creating a Contact Form – Contact Form 7 Plugin

To create contact form click “Contact Forms” under “Contact” in Admin Dashboard. Now, you will see one contact form i.e, Contact Form 1. You can edit this existing contact form & use it or can add a new contact form if you don’t want to use the existing one. These simple steps are shown in the screenshot given below.

Email Settings in Contact Form 7

This is a choice totally based on user, but we prefer to use the existing one. Now to use it Click on Edit. Now, after this, we have to add the Email Address on which emails are to be sent. When any reader wants to contact you, He/She will fill the contact form – Query will be sent to this Email Address.

Now click on “Mail” (shown in the screenshot, given below). Edit the To field to enter the Email ID of the administrator or any other email that you want the submissions to be sent to. Now, Save your settings & you are done! These simple steps are shown in the screenshot given below.

Important:– After saving the contact form, you need to copy the shortcode in order to Add a Contact Form to any page/post. Next step is to add a contact form to a page/post. A screenshot is showing the shortcode is given below.

Adding Contact Form to a Page / Post

Click on Pages > Add New from the admin dashboard. In the Page editor, type a title. Paste the Shortcode that you copied in the previous section into the body of the page. After this publish this page. Similarly, you can add this contact form to your posts also. A screenshot is showing the process is given below.

After publishing the page, you can see the contact page as given below.

Now, Its time to verify this contact form, Enter Name, Email, Subject & Message. On submission, if you get a message like “Your message was sent successfully. Thanks.” (The default message, which can be changed in Messages tab), then your form works.

Now Check your Inbox, you will find the message sent by you to your Inbox. In case, If you don’t find the email in your Inbox- you can check your spam box. In some cases, emails sent via Contact Form 7 are delivered to the spam box. You can move the email out of spam.
